When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another. - Thomas Jefferson
The Figures Don't Lie. Ideologues Do.
How many times since the Bush Presidency began do you think you've heard a disparaging remark made about the wealth of he and veep Dick Cheney? It seems to be an accepted axiom in the Press that their wealth = greed and that their assumed greed = corruption. While not dismissing the fact that greed will breed corruption and there's plenty of it going on in Washington Politics, there is a misperception we'd like to help correct.
Conservatives in Congress alone, are assumed to be filthy with corporate money from evil oil companies and the like while poor Democrats fight the good fight on behalf of the working man.
Would it surprise anyone to know, then, that the top 5 wealthiest Senate Members are Democrats? No, really. Here they are in order of net worth:
1. John Kerry, D Massachusetts: $163,626,399
2. Herb
Kohl, D-Wisconsin: $111,015,016
3. John
Rockefeller, D -West Virginia: $81,648,018
4. Jon Corzine,
D-New Jersey: $71,035,025
5. Dianne Feinstein,
D-California: $26,377,109
A couple more interesting tidbits for you:
Democrats occupy 10 of the top 12 spots in this list, andover in the House is the wealthiest person to ever occupy the Speakership: Nancy Pelosi. Her net worth is somewhere between $14,746,108 and $55,085,000, depending on how her oil company stocks are doing this month. She is not the richest woman in the House, though. That honor goes to California Democratic Congresswoman Jane Harman who is worth $168,651,649 to $289,045,000. That's between four and ten times what the "evil Republican" Dick Cheney is worth, for those keeping track.
At recent count, around 303 members of the House, Senate and Bush administration are millionaires. And in terms of average net worth, the Democrats win.

In the lead-up to
the 2006 mid-term elections, Democrats launched a crusade against what they
called a "culture of corruption" in Washington, D.C. -- which, if you listened
to them, only existed in the Republican Party. The list of alleged Republican
crimes was endless: cronyism, corruption, sexual misconduct, ethics violations
... anything they thought would stick, even if for only a moment. And it wasn't
necessary for facts or basic decency to play a role. The campaign worked. The
Democrats won - at which time the soon-to-be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared
"Democrats intend to lead the most honest, the most open and the most ethical
Congress in history." But now, Caucus of Corruption: The Truth about the New
Democratic Majority tells that other side of the story that the Democrats
ignore, and that the mainstream media refuses to tell.
In Caucus of Corruption,
you'll learn all about:
As the definitive
resource on Democrat corruption and hypocrisy, Caucus of Corruption is a
must have for Conservatives and Republicans -- and anyone else concerned with
cleaning up politics in Washington.
"Americans who
voted for Democrats thinking the party of Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton would
"clean up the mess in Washington" are in for a rude awakening, as Matt Margolis
and Mark Noonan demonstrate in this carefully-documented book. A powerful,
important chronicle of the real 'culture of corruption' in the Democratic Party.
-Robert Stacy McCain, The Washington Times, co-author of Donkey
Cons
"Margolis and
Noonan have cut through the smoke and mirrors to reveal what liberals are really
hiding-their complete lack of leadership and refusal to stand up for the
values-based agenda most Americans are demanding. This book is a must read for
all Americans looking for the unreported motivations behind the Left's political
scene." -Tom DeLay, former House Majority Leader
"Washington, D.C.
was built on a swamp and, as Caucus of Corruption shows, it has not
gotten any cleaner. Since Margolis and Noonan remind us what the mainstream
media has forgotten: that corruption is very much a bipartisan scourge."
-Richard Miniter, author of Losing bin Laden and Shadow

Congressmen are putting their wives on their campaign payrolls so that campaign contributions are really personal bribes! *
The ACLU won't allow its own directors free speech. * Liberals want to strip us of the tools to stop terrorism. * The UN is a cover for massive corruption and eighty countries, who pay 12 percent of the budget, are blocking reform. * Drug companies pay off doctors to write scripts whether we need them or not. * Teachers unions block the firing of bad teachers and battle against higher education standards! * Katrina victims are being stiffed by their insurance companies! * Special interests cost our consumers $45 billion through trade quotas that save only a handful of jobs!

Flash:
A new
political action committee created by the brother of Rep. Silvestre Reyes
(D-Texas) raised $50,000 this spring almost entirely from staff and clients of
powerhouse lobbying shop PMA Group, and within weeks, those same donors reaped
millions of dollars in earmarks from Reyes and other Members of Congress closely
affiliated with PMA.
Never heard of these abuses? You won't in the mainstream media. That's why Dick Morris and Eileen McGann wrote Outrage. Their proposals:
In
Outrage, you'll get the facts and learn what we can do about them. You
won't read about these outrages anyplace else; too many people are working hard
to cover them up. Get them here instead and learn how to fight the special
interests of the left and right.
